When a project demands specialist recruitment, immersive research and flawless delivery, every detail matters.
We recruited eight experts and two lifestyle influencers for a four-hour, in-home research experience. Our team managed the project from end to end, providing in-person hosting and hands-on client support throughout the fieldwork. The result was zero no-shows and a complete turnaround in just three weeks.

THE BACKGROUND
BEAM Fieldwork was commissioned to recruit and support an exclusive research event for stakeholders from several home cleaning and home wellness brands.
The client wanted to explore what makes a home feel genuinely healthy, moving beyond conventional consumer perspectives to hear from people with specialist knowledge, professional experience and established influence across different areas of home life and
THE BRIEF
BEAM was tasked with recruiting eight experts and two lifestyle influencers to take part in a four-hour immersive research experience within a home environment.
Participants needed to bring credible specialist knowledge, a distinctive perspective and the confidence to engage directly with multiple senior stakeholders. Collectively, the group needed to provide a broad and balanced view of what makes a home healthy.
Each person needed to bring credible expertise, a distinctive point of view and the confidence to engage directly with multiple senior stakeholders. The entire project, from recruitment through to fieldwork delivery, needed to be completed within three weeks.
THE CHALLENGE
This was a small and highly specialised sample, which meant every participant needed to add genuine value.
Broad demographic criteria would not be enough. BEAM needed to identify credible specialists with relevant experience who could contribute to detailed conversations about health, wellbeing and the home.
The format added another layer of complexity. Participants would be taking part in an intensive four-hour session with several stakeholders present. They needed to remain comfortable, articulate and engaged throughout the experience.
With a short recruitment window and only ten places available, there was little room for unsuitable participants or late withdrawals.
THE APPROACH
BEAM developed a targeted, relationship-led recruitment strategy to create a carefully balanced group of specialists and influencers.
The final sample included:
– Professional home organisers with experience working for celebrity clients
– A feng shui expert
– Lifestyle influencers with audiences of more than 150,000 followers
– Nutritionists
– Wellness and yoga specialists
– Home technology experts
Each participant brought a different interpretation of the healthy home. Together, they allowed the client to examine the subject through practical, emotional, environmental, technological and wellbeing-focused perspectives.
Rigorous screening was used to confirm each participant’s experience, credibility and ability to contribute confidently within an intensive group setting.
BEAM also provided in-person hosting and client management throughout the fieldwork. This gave participants clear support during the session and allowed the client team to focus fully on the conversations and emerging insights.
THE OUTCOME
BEAM successfully recruited all eight experts and two lifestyle influencers within the three-week turnaround.
The project delivered:
– Ten high-quality participants with complementary expertise
– Influencers with substantial and relevant audiences
– A diverse mix of specialist perspectives
– Smooth delivery of a four-hour immersive research event
– Zero no-shows
– On-site support for participants and stakeholders
The combination of careful recruitment and hands-on fieldwork management helped create an environment in which every participant could contribute confidently and perform at their best.
By bringing together expertise across organisation, nutrition, wellness, technology and lifestyle, BEAM helped the client develop a more rounded understanding of what constitutes a healthy home.
The research gave stakeholders direct access to informed opinions and lived experiences that would have been difficult to capture through conventional consumer recruitment alone. The diversity of the sample and smooth delivery of the event were recognised by the client:
“We’ve been told repeatedly by our end client that they were delighted with the diversity of the recruitment and the smooth running of the day.”
The project also strengthened BEAM’s specialist networks and methods for identifying credible niche experts and high-reach influencers. These enhanced approaches can support future studies requiring unusual profiles, specialist participants and highly targeted audiences.
THE LEARNING
Specialist recruitment is not simply about finding people who meet a set of criteria. When the sample is small, every participant must bring a credible and distinctive perspective while complementing the expertise of the wider group.
For this project, success came from looking beyond conventional participant profiles and carefully curating a balanced mix of experts and influencers. Rigorous screening ensured that participants had the relevant experience, confidence and communication skills to contribute throughout an intensive four-hour session.
The project also demonstrated the value of combining targeted recruitment with hands-on fieldwork management. By supporting participants and stakeholders on the day, BEAM created the right environment for productive conversations, stronger engagement and richer insights.
If you need research recruitment that can identify credible niche experts, engage influential voices and support an immersive fieldwork experience, we can help.
