EXPERIENCES
Before I worked at BEAM I used to work in hospitality, which I think gave me a great understanding of how to engage with the public, connect with people and deliver great service. I’ve been at BEAM for 3 years now and I’ve really grown my skillsets. I enjoy working with data and analysing information. Being able to merge methodical work and engaging with people is pretty much my dream scenario.
WHAT I BRING TO THE TABLE
I’ve always thought a little differently than most people. It’s definitely helped me to find ways of multi-tasking and juggling a lot at any given time. I like to be able to problem solve, which is a priority given that I deal with so many different groups of people for each project, including participants, interviewers, clients and many more suppliers. Being able to engage with people effectively is something I take a lot of pride in – there is a skill to engaging participants in market research beyond the monetary incentive. Understanding the vastly different motivations and priorities of the people we speak with is a fundamental part of securing really high-quality participants.
WHAT I’M PASSIONATE ABOUT
Honestly, I love my job! I really enjoy getting my teeth in the more complicated recruiting projects, especially if there is an algorithm involved, and it really pushes the boundaries. Learning about new areas is also a highlight for me, I relish the opportunity to do some research and expand my understanding of niche areas that I haven’t come across before. These deep dives allow me to script more effect screeners and surveys.
For me there is also a real satisfaction in the interaction I have with participants. I find it fascinating to image the people based on their responses and create a vision of who they are.
WHAT I LOVE TO WORK ON
My favourites are always hall tests and car clinics, really anything that allows me to get out and see the research in action. I love the need for precise organisation and seeing the plan play out. There’s something great about seeing the participants in real life that have until then only been a voice on the phone, then being able to see them engage with the research. I feel the same about the clients too, it’s wonderful seeing a project come to a really positive conclusion. There’s a satisfaction in seeing the part I play in the chain of responsibility that is needed to get complicated projects over the line.
